The Armed Forces Veterans’ Day is celebrated on Jan 14 every year as it was on this day in 1953 that the first commander-in-chief of the Indian Army field marshal KM Cariappa, who led the forces to victory in the 1947 war, officially retired from service.
The day was first celebrated in 2016 and it is commemorated every year since then by hosting such interactive events in the honour of the ex-servicemen.
