Lucknow: Expressing concern over the circulation of half-baked information on Lord Krishna on social media, spiritual guru and founder of Pavan Chintan Dhara, Acharya Paavan Sinha on Saturday said that there is a need to present the facts and truth of Shri Krishna’s life so that the society benefits from his personality.
Speaking after a theatrical presentation titled ‘Krishna’ put together by the students of Paavan Chintan Dhara’s cultural wing at the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Sinha said: “From early childhood till his last days, Shri Krishna continued working for the establishment of religion and improvement of society. His life was an embodiment of sacrifice. He was an able student, an able ruler and a worthy man of his family. It is only from the truth that the society will benefit.”
Citing a common myth to explain his point, he said: “It is commonly believed that Shri Krishna married 16,108 women which is totally baseless. There are many such stories going on in the name of Shri Krishna in which he is shown only as the lover of his beloved, but this is half truth which is more dangerous than a lie.”
Earlier, the presentation made by the troupe from the Ashram touched upon the messages given in the ‘lilas’ of Krishna as a child, teenager, student, strategist and then as a ruler. The link that the presentation drew with ancient text with modern relevance was appreciated the most.
“One doesn’t become a ‘bhakt’ by chanting the name of the lord. The right way to become a follower is to embrace and imbibe the teachings of the lord and practice them in everyday life,” Sinha said, referring to the need to simplify complex knowledge into palatable form like this play.
Deputy chief ministers Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya also attended the event and blessed the performers. “The takeaway message from the play is to ensure that one’s position and prestige doesn’t get into one’s head. Rather, it should be used to serve the needy,” Pathak said. Maurya said that such programmes should be organized for continuous moral uplift of the society so that people were never devoid of values.
