Lucknow: In their mission to promote women’s empowerment, 14 girl cadets from the UP NCC Directorate arrived in Lucknow on Friday as part of their Nari Shakti Mega Cyclothon, covering a distance of 1,095km.
The cyclothon, which started from Guwahati on December 24, will culminate in Delhi on January 28 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.The expedition, titled ‘Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi’, commemorates the 75th year of the NCC.
Led by Colonel Anjan Sengupta of Varanasi NCC Group, with support from Lieutenant Commander Rahul Mishra of the 7 UP Naval Unit NCC, the team was welcomed in Lucknow by chief secretary DS Mishra.
Governor Anandiben Patel will flag off the team for New Delhi on January 14.
The team is also engaged in cultural activities, fostering connections with locals and transcending perceived barriers of age, culture, and religion.
