Warning for hotels and cottages in Nilgiris district | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Udhagamandalam: Nilgiris Superintendent of Police, P Sundaravadivel, has issued a warning to hotels and cottages in the Nilgiris district, instructing them not to allow tourists to consume liquor on their premises, as it constitutes an offence under Section 4(1)(k) of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition (Enforcement of the Scheme) Act.
The directive includes a mandate for the installation of CCTV cameras covering entrances, exits, corridors, lobbies, the reception, and road-facing areas.Additionally, hotels and resorts must provide proper parking facilities for their guests, and parking vehicles on the roadside may lead to legal action, he warned.
Furthermore, the release emphasised the necessity for all hotels to register a ‘C-Form’ for foreign guests, as failure to do so is a violation under Section 7 and 14 of the Registration of Foreigners Act-1946.
The release also explicitly prohibits campfires without proper and prior permission.
Any illegal activities discovered on hotel premises will be reported to the district administration and the tourism department, potentially resulting in the closure of the establishment, even for first-time offences, according to the release.
