Patna: Hundreds of passengers travelling by the New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Terminal Tejas Rajdhani Express (12310) were the most harassed lot due to abnormal delay of the train caused by poor visibility and fog. The Rajdhani Express, which had its scheduled arrival at the Patna Junction around 4.40am, was delayed by 17 hours.
However, railways had arranged a scratch rake of the Tejas Rajdhani Express to avoid further delay from the Rajendra Nagar Terminal on Monday.
Similarly, the New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Terminal Sampoorna Kranti Express (12394) was reported running 15 hours behind its schedule while the New Delhi-Islampur Magadh Express (20802) was delayed by 21 hours on Monday. However, the New Delhi-Rajgir Shramjeevi Express (12392), running via Lucknow, was delayed by one hour, Danapur railway sources said.
While the New Delhi-Howrah Poorva Express (12304) reached Patna Junction 8 hours and 45 minutes late, the Delhi-Malda Town Farakka Express (13414) was delayed by 9 hours and the Delhi-Alipur Duar Mahananda Express (15484) was running 9 hours 85 minutes late.
According to railway sources, the greatest challenge before the railways was to provide breakfast, meals, and hot beverages during the journey. There are 1,100 passengers on the New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Terminal Tejas Rajdhani Express while around 1,200 passengers are on each long-distance mail and express train either reaching or originating from Patna Junction, sources said.
According to the IRCTC (Patna) joint general manager Rajesh Kumar, we have decided to increase the frequency of free breakfast, tea, and coffee to the passengers. “Extra care is being taken to senior citizens, women, and children onboard Tejas Rajdhani Express,” he said.
