KOTA: A 12-year-old boy died when the manja of the kite he was flying slit his neck in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Monday. Five others were critically injured due to accidents involving Chinese manja during Makar Sankranti in Kota and Bundi.
A week before Makar Sankranti, the district collectors of Kota, Bundi and Jhalawar districts had banned Chinese and glass-coated manja.
The 12-year-old died within an hour of the injury despite being rushed to hospital. His body was handed over to the family after postmortem.
Among the injured is a 60-year-old. The banned manja entangled his neck and slit the veins while he was riding a motorbike in Kota’s Satur village on Sunday. Four others injured due to Chinese manja are being treated at different hospitals in Kota.
