CHENNAI: Buses to southern districts should be operated from both Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) in Koyambedu and the new terminus in Kilambakkam, TMC leader G K Vasan said on Wednesday. Shifting of operations of south-bound buses from Koyambedu to Kilambakkam was causing inconvenience to people, Vasan said in a statement
He said Chennai has sea in the east and Andhra Pradesh in the north and so developing the city in all four directions is not possible. Most of the residents of the north and central Chennai are natives of the southern districts who have migrated to Chennai.
“Chennai has a population of 1.25 crore. So, having two bus termini for the benefit of people from southern districts is justifiable,” he said.
The government should heed to the demand of the people and operate an equal number of buses from Koyembedu and Kilambakkam to the southern districts, he said.
