Coimbatore district has only 467 voters aged above 100 years | Coimbatore News – Times of India

COIMBATORE: After a detailed field verification, election officials on Thursday said the Coimbatore district has only 467 voters aged above 100 years.
On November 7 last, the district collector released a draft electoral roll which showed that the district had 1,183 voters aged above 100 years. Village administrative officers carried out a door-to-door verification in the last two months to ascertain it.
After the verification by the VAOs, election officials declared that there are only 467 voters aged above 100 years. They include 230 male voters and 237 female voters.
The Election Commission of India has given an opportunity to people aged above 80 years and disabled abled people to exercise their franchise from home.
Elderly people can submit form 12D (application for postal facility) to the election department to avail the facility. The postal ballots will be distributed to them through returning officers at their residences. The elderly people can cast their votes in their homes on the same day.
The ECI will release a final electoral roll on January 22.
