Road Safety Mth To Create Awareness | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: State transport department, along with Bihar Road Safety Council, is observing National Road Safety Month from January 15 to February 14.
“There are approximately 4.5 lakh road accidents in the country every year, resulting in death of about 1.5 lakh people, half of them young. So, a decision has been made to conduct awareness programmes on road safety for the entire month,” said transport secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.
The department has directed all district transport officers (DTO), additional DTOs and motor vehicle inspectors to organise various safety programmes throughout the month. To spread awareness about road safety, the department has also planned various campaigns like eye and general health check-up camps, especially for bus, autorickshaw and truck drivers.
