Gurgaon: Two men have been arrested for allegedly firing in the air and physically assaulting a 57-year-old auto driver near IFFCO Chowk U-turn on Thursday morning.
The accused have been identified as Ankit and Jonny.
Mohammad Sirajuddin in his complaint told the police that around 8.30 am on Thursday his auto was intercepted by a car which had four men in it, a few meters from IFFCO Chowk. While two of them remained seated in the car, the other two stepped out and attacked Sirajuddin.
“They stopped me and started asking where I am heading to. I very politely responded and requested them to let go off me. Before I could realise anything, two men stepped out of the car and started abusing me. When I objected, one person held my collar. I tried to take out my phone from my pocket to call the police but they snatched it from my hand and broke it,” he said.
He alleged that after breaking his phone, the men thrashed him brutally. They punched him on his chest multiple times and slapped him. “To scare me, a man open fired. That’s when an auto driver passing through stopped and requested them to leave me,” Sirajuddin said.
Before fleeing the spot, the assailants issued threats of ‘severe consequences’ if he dared to report the incident to the police. It was through the help of a passerby that the victim made a call to the police and then his family.
An FIR was registered under sections 323 (causing hurt) 506 (criminal intimidation) 285 (firing in the air) and 34 (common intentions) of the IPC and under relevant sections of the Arms Act at Sector 17/18 police station on Thursday.“The other accused are absconding. We will arrest them soon.,” said a police officer.
