Gurgaon: A sub-inspector was suspended on Friday after a man accused of thrashing and injuring two men after a spat over celebratory firing escaped from Aarvy Hospital in Sector 90. Police said the man, who was on the run, got admitted himself to the hospital hoping to evade arrest. He had also suffered minor injuries in the scuffle.
The investigation officer (IO), Trilok Chand, was directed to monitor the accused, who was to be arrested soon after his treatment.
Police said Ankit had organised a ‘kuan pujan’ ceremony for his newborn in Nawada village on Monday. During the ceremony, Balram — a visitor — started firing in the air and some other attendants of the ceremony, including Deepak, tried stopping him. A fight also broke involving Balram and some elders at the party, police added.
The next day, Deepak said he went out smoking at around 12.10am with his friends — Anup, Gaurav, and Sunil — when a black Verna car arrived and stopped near them.
“Balram and his friends — Abhishek, Rajneesh, and an unidentified man — got out of the car and started firing at me. When Anup came forward to save me, they thrashed him too. It was after the villagers gathered that the miscreants left us and fled the spot, leaving their car,” Deepak said in his complaint.
Deepak and Anup were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment and an FIR was registered on Tuesday against the four accused under sections 307 (attempted murder), 323 (causing hurt) of IPC, and the Arms Act at Kherki Daula police station.
“To evade arrest, Balram got himself admitted to Aarvy hospital but we got a tip-off and SI Trilok Chand was asked to keep an eye on Balram. Due to IO’s careless behaviour, the accused managed to flee around 4am,” a police officer from Kherki Daula station said.
“As of now, all the four accused are on the run. We are trying to trace their location. They will be arrested soon,” added the cop.
