Patna: Amid speculations of a rift in the Grand Alliance (GA) over seat-sharing and some other issues, RJD national president Lalu Prasad and his son and deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav spent nearly 40 minutes with JD(U) president and CM Nitish Kumar at the latter’s official residence on Friday.
When asked if the two major GA partners — RJD and JD(U) — had some differences over seat-sharing or any other issue, Tejashwi outrightly rejected the media speculations and said “all is well” in the alliance and accused BJP of rumourmongering and planting rumours in the media.
When asked about the hush-hush regarding an offer to Nitish from BJP’s side and if Union home minister Amit Shah will open his party’s door for the Bihar CM, Tejashwi said, “I don’t know. But you people know a lot. Even tell me about the offer made.”
He then said all was well in the GA and JD(U) and RJD will be fighting the election together. “It is not a party which will be fighting the election, rather we together will fight as GA. WE are working under the leadership of Nitish Ji,” he said. Tejashwi further said the same question regrading seat-sharing should be asked to the NDA and added, “Why are you all worried for us, not NDA? Tell me on how many seats will BJP be contesting the election.”
Meanwhile, sources in the GA said this was a casual meeting of the two top leaders ahead of election and to give a final touch to seat-sharing issue. “This is also to send a message that all is well,” said a senior RJD leader.
The same day even opposition BJP called a meeting of its legislators at the residence of leader of opposition in state assembly Vijay Kumar Sinha.
