PANAJI: All casinos in Goa will be closed for eight hours starting from 8am on Monday as a gesture of respect for the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, as confirmed by an official from a casino management company on Sunday.
Goa hosts six offshore casinos and multiple onshore casinos. The offshore casino vessels are moored in the Mandovi River near Panaji.
A decision has been made for all casinos to suspend operations from 8am to 4pm on Monday, as announced by Shrinivas Nayak, the director of the Majestic Pride group, which operates several of these casinos.
He remarked, “Given that others are shutting down their businesses and holidays have been declared for everyone to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime event, why shouldn’t we?”
The Goa government has already announced a holiday on Monday for all government, semi-government, and autonomous bodies in observance of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
