NEW DELHI: The BJP state unit will organise a host of events across the city on Monday to commemorate the idol consecration ceremony in Ayodhya. Home minister Amit Shah will perform a puja at Birla Temple and state president JP Nadda at Jhandewalan.
AAP said that under the Mukyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana, additional trains will run from Delhi to Ayodhya for pilgrims travelling for darshan.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said party workers have made arrangements to organise community viewing of the ceremony on LED screens and TVs at over 2,000 locations.
The state BJP said MPs would spend the day at their constituencies, participating in different events. East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir will distribute shawls to women on GB Road, followed by visits to temples in his constituency. MP Parvesh Sahib Singh said he would take part in over 20 events in Delhi. Assembly leader of opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri will hold a cleanliness campaign in his constituency in Tughlaqabad followed by a Shobha Yatra.
Screens were being set up at the state office where all workers and their families will sit and watch the event.
A nine-day Shri Ram Katha has started on Sunday in Sant Nagar, East of Kailash, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said.
“The sacrifice of senior leaders like Ashok Singhal and Lal Krishna Advani are memorable and ultimately it is the result of the efforts of PM Narendra Modi which started during the conduct of Ram Rath Yatra in 1991 that we are seeing what is happening today,” Kapoor said.
AAP leaders will hold a Shobha Yatra, puja and bhandaras. Minister Atishi in Kalkaji, MLA Dilip Pandey in Timarpur and MLA Durgesh Pathak in Rajendra Nagar will participate in events.
Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal participated in the ongoing nine-day Ramkatha in Kidwai Nagar in his Assembly constituency on Sunday. The event will conclude with a bhandara on Monday.
“Tomorrow, we are arranging for the bhandaras and Shobha Yatras (processions) at many places. On the first Tuesday of every month, we will do Sundar Kand recitations in Delhi,” Kejriwal said.
MLA Pandey Lord Ram does not belong to any specific political party. “He is the epitome of the highest standards of humanity for the entire country. CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal will surely go to see him, and party leaders will visit with their families,” Pandey said.
