City decked up on the eve of consecration ceremony | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: The entire city has been decorated with colourful lights, flowers and flags on the eve of the consecration ceremony of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya.
Almost all temples of the city have been cleaned and decorated where besides offering special prayers, bhajans are being sung. ‘Sundar Kand’ and Ram Charit Manas are also being recited at the temples, business institutions. Recitation and other places.
A special Aarti was held at a Shri Ram temple.
The residents have put Ram Dhwaj (orange flag with a picture of Lord Ram with bow & arrow or Lord Hanuman) atop their houses and decorated the roads with big cutouts of Lord Ram. They took out a Vijay Yatra (victory procession) in several localities with slogans of “Sri Ram ji ki jai”.
‘Shobha Yatras’ were taken out from Birhana Road, Nayaganj, Kidwai Nagar, Keshav Nagar, Arya Nagar and other localities by the devotees while RSS volunteers took out a ‘Pran Patishtha’ (Consecration) Jagran Rath which roamed in various localities of the city. Special prayers are being held at five prominent temples.
Chhatrapati Shahu ji Maharaj University has been decorated by lighting around 51,000 earthen lamps. Recitation of RamCharitmanas has started in the university temple on Sunday. Mayor Pramila Pandey on Sunday took out a`Padyatra’ and appealed to the people to observe Deepawali on Monday.
Radha Krishna Temple Trust and Merchant Chamber are presenting Ramayana play and organizing ‘Bhajan Sandhya’ at J K Temple on Sunday and Monday.
Around 300 young artists drew the pictures of Lord Ram on canvas and art sheets and Bhajan Sandhya was held in the evening.
