Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will soon start action against industrial units in the red zone of Talawade for violating norms.
Municipal commissioner Shekhar Singh on Saturday said the civic body would start joint action with officials from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Pimpri Chinchwad police and the Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) in the Talawade. There are around 3,000 industrial units in the red zone of Talawade. They are termed illegal because they operate out of the restricted zone and do not have the permission from any department.
PCMC chief Singh said the members of women self-help groups given the task to conduct the fire safety audit were told to visit some establishments again after some gaps were found in the survey data. “We will now start taking action against the units where explosive material and chemicals are used by violating norms. The action will continue further,” he said.
