People celebrate with special prayers, firecrackers in Jaipur | Jaipur News – Times of India

JAIPUR :The city wore a festive look on Monday as people took out vehicle rallies, shobha yatras, offered prayers at the temples, lit diyas in their houses and temples. The skyline was dotted with colourful firecrackers in the evening to celebrate the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya. The scene was similar to the festivities during Diwali with people distributing sweets and greeting each other.People also decorated their houses with fairy lights and rangoli in many colonies. Some of the markets were also decorated with colourful lighting.
Bike and other vehicle rallies were organised in the city with youngsters chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, while special prayers were offered at various temples by devotees.
“We started celebrating since Saturday when ‘paush bada’ bhog was offered to the lord. This was followed by Ramdhuni on Sunday. On Monday we organised a shobha yatra and distributed kesaria ladoos in the colony,” said Hemant Sharma, cultural secretary of Awadh Puri Vikas Samiti.
People could be seen buying special flags to mark the occasion, which were later hoisted on the terraces. Such flags in different sizes were also seen on bikes and cars.
Sweet shops were flooded with customers throughout the day. “The footfall has tripled compared to our daily customers,” said a sweet shop owner on Tonk road.
At Jamdoli’s Devdutt Dalmiya Physical Colllege sportspersons formed a human chain to depict Jai Shri Ram. “We also attended a mass recital of Hanuman Chalisa,” said Danveer Singh Bhati, former captain of basketball team of Rajasthan
