Sanitation workers strike: Demand to resume recruitment process | Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: With the demand to resume recruitment process, sanitation workers in the city are likely to go on strike this week.
On Tuesday, a public meeting will be organised at Jaipur Municipal Corporation – Heritage under the banner of Sanyukt Valmiki Evam Safai Shramik Sangh, where sanitation workers and union officials from across the state will participate.In this meeting, upcoming strategy will be prepared regarding the strike and restarting the recruitment of sanitation workers across the state.
Nandkishore Dandoriya, president of the sangh said, “The application process for the recruitment was completed during the previous government’s tenure. The candidates were only waiting for appointment. But now the recruitment process has been put on hold. If the authorities do not decide fast, then workers across the state will go on strike.”
Dandoriya added that as per norms, recruitment exam for sanitation workers does not consist of a written exam, and only practical is held.
“There is no literacy criteria for the post of sanitation worker, in such a situation if an illiterate person is applying then how can he/she sit for a written examination. Practicals can be done for this post,” added Dandoriya.
