State’s 7 Varsities Likely To Get Regular Vcs This Mth | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: All the seven universities are likely to get full-time vice-chancellors by the end of this month, informed sources said. At present, all these seven universities are being administered by caretaker VCs.
While the Raj Bhavan has already received the panels of names selected for appointment as VCs in six universities, the names for the seventh university is likely to be submitted to the chancellor on January 29.
The four-member search committees constituted by governor-cum-chancellor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has already shortlisted candidates from the applications received for the VC of Patna University and has invited the candidates for interaction on January 29. And, the panel of selected names would be submitted to the chancellor the same day.
The interaction of shortlisted candidates by respective search committees for appointment of VC in L N Mithila University (LNMU), B N Mandal University (BNMU) , K S D Sanskrit University (KSDSU), Jai Prakash University (JPU) , B R A Bihar University (BRABU) and Aryabhatta Knowledge University (AKU) was completed and the names recommended by them were submitted to the chancellor in December itself. But, the process of shortlisting and interaction with candidates in case of Patna University was somewhat delayed owing to the legal hurdle in the name of government’s representative included in the search committee. The search committee was reconstituted with the changed representative of the state government.
After the chancellor receives the panels of recommended names, he would appoint the new VCs in consultation with the chief minister. In all probability, the appointments will be made in the last week of the current month itself or in the first week of February.
It may be mentioned that the chancellor’s secretariat had invited online applications for the appointment of VCs in the first week of August and the last date for submission of applications ended on August 27. The office of the VCs in all these universities, except AKU, fell vacant in September
