New Delhi: National Green Tribunal has directed Delhi Development Authority and Municipal Corporation of Delhi to upload on their official website information regarding the number of parks in their jurisdiction with details of maintenance, including geo coordinates and encroachments, if any, and steps taken for removal of these encroachments.
The tribunal said the web portals should also have a link for residents to lodge complaints regarding maintenance of parks.Appropriate mechanism for redressal of such grievances should be in place, it added.
“The portal should also have the number of parks which are utilised for booking for organising of private functions for social, religious or marriage purposes,” stated NGT.
The green tribunal has asked DDA and MCD to submit a report regarding uploading of the information on official websites by March 31.
A plea was filed in NGT in March last year claiming that Buddha Park adjoining Mayur Vihar Pocket-I Metro Station was being illegally used for organising various social events, functions and weddings. The organisers used diesel generators for supplying electricity and played loud music for entertainment, which was adversely affecting the residents, particularly infants and aged people living in the area, the petition stated.
