Pune: Two motorcycle-borne men robbed a photographer from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, of his camera worth Rs1.7 lakh in Nandedgaon on Sinhagad Road around 8pm on January 16.
A complaint was registered with the Sinhagad Road police on Monday. “The victim, Vikas Tiwari, did not report the incident immediately as he had to travel to Mumbai for an interview the next morning,” an officer from Sinhagad Road police said.
“When he returned from Mumbai on Monday, he approached us and lodged a complaint about the unknown men who robbed him of his camera worth Rs 1.7 lakh,” he said.
“We have recovered CCTV footage from the area where the robbery took place and are working on some leads to crack the case soon,” Pravin Jadhav, assistant inspector from Sinhagad Road police, told TOI.
“Tiwari told us that he was walking towards Dhayari bridge when two men on a bike approached him from behind, and the pillion rider pushed him on the ground. Before he could understand what was happening and that he was attacked, the pillion rider snatched his camera, and the bike went towards Dhayari bridge,” Jadhav further said.
“The complainant has been residing with his friend in Nandedgaon on Sinhagad Road for the last two months. He was going for a photo assignment when the robbery took place,” he said.
The complainant, Vikas Tiwari, chased the duo on the bike to get the camera back, but in vain, Jadhav added.
Last week, three men threatened and robbed a college student of his motorcycle in the Bapdev Ghat area. Two of the unidentified men had threatened the student with a knife and a catapult. The suspects then snatched the ignition key of the victim’s bike.
