GU extends marks benefit to National Games volunteers – Goa University | Goa News – Times of India

PANAJI: The Goa University has decided to extend the benefit of marks or credits to all undergraduate and postgraduate students from Goa University Schools as well its affiliated colleges, who have participated as volunteers in the 37th National Games hosted by Goa last year.
Earlier, the benefit was available to specific categories of students.
The National Games were held in Goa from Oct 25 to Nov 9 and saw a staggering 3000+ volunteers from Goa participate in this event.
“The University has decided to extend the benefit of awarding the marks and/or credits to UG/PG students enrolled at affiliated colleges and at University schools who have offered their services as general volunteers during the 37th National Games 2023,” GU has said in a new circular issued last week.
The selected volunteers were deployed across all venues throughout the duration of the Games, ensuring that every aspect runs seamlessly.
The organisers of the 37th National Games heavily banked on volunteers for the smooth conduct of the prestigious multi-discipline event. National Games saw participation from more than 8,000 athletes across 43 disciplines including five indigenous sports like mallakhamb, kalaripayattu, gatka, lagori and yoga.
GU had said that NCC cadets who volunteer for National Games will be considered as having participated in a national level camp and will get 10 marks for it.
