Gurgaon: A newborn baby was found dead in bushes behind the Maruti Nexa Service station in Manesar on Tuesday morning. An employee of the service station found some dogs barking incessantly and went there to find a newborn baby buried. A case was registered at Manesar police station.
Sandeep, the body shop in charge at the service station, said, “I was on a walk behind the service station at 9.30am when I heard ceaseless barking of dogs.Approaching the spot, I saw an infant, half-buried in the ground amidst the bushes. Dogs had scratched the infant’s body all over. It appeared like it was a newborn baby.”
Sandeep informed police about the infant’s body. Police took possession of the body and the cloth that the baby was wrapped in and sent the body for autopsy.
Based on Sandeep’s complaint, an FIR was registered at Manesar police station under Section 318 (secretly burying or disposing of the body of a child, intentionally concealing the birth of such child) of the IPC.
Manesar police station SHO Virender Khatri told TOI, “The body was half buried, with the head and upper torso outside the ground. The baby was wrapped in a cloth. Dogs had scratched the body above the ground. We are looking at CCTV cameras from nearby areas and the data of newborn babies in hospitals. The probe is underway.” He confirmed that the baby boy was born only a day or two ago.
