Mumbai: As the ‘One State, One Uniform’ policy will be implemented in all state government schools from the academic year 2024-25, girl students will wear pinafore and skirts and boys half pants till Class 7.
State on Wednesday issued a government resolution describing the patterns of uniforms for students from Class 1 to 8. The standardised uniforms plan could not take off this academic year as several schools were ready with their own uniforms.
For girls from Class 1 to 4, it will be pinafore uniforms.In Class 5 to 7, girls will wear shirts and skirts. In Class 8, uniforms for girls will be a salwar-suit with dupatta. So far, girls from Class 1 to 4 in most schools wear pinafore or skirts and from Class 5 to 8 salwar-suits with dupattas.
In case of boys, Class 1 to 7 will have half pants (shorts) and half-sleeve shirts. In Class 8, boys will wear full pants and half shirts. As of now, boys wear half pants and half-sleeve shirts in Class 1 to 4, while those from Class 5 to 8 in most schools wear full pants with half-sleeve shirts.
The colours were decided last year. Boys will have sky-blue shirts and dark sky-blue half/full pants. Girls will have sky-blue shirts and dark sky-blue shirts or salwars. Uniforms will be switched by women’s help groups. The uniform policy does not apply to private schools.

Class 10 girl molested by Instagram friend
A 16-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her Instagram friend near Raiya telephone exchange in Rajkot. The accused also threatened her with dire consequences if she did not engage in a relationship with him.
