Dibrugarh: In an unusual incident, a leopard in its search for food, found itself trapped in a duck cage at a household in Nahoroni village of Duliajan in Dibrugarh district on Saturday morning. Biju Das, a resident of the area, had set up a bamboo enclosure to rear his ducks, and it was there that the unexpected incident took place.
The incident left the villagers both shocked and in awe as many of them gathered to catch a glimpse of the leopard that has been causing havoc in the area by preying on the livestock of local farmers, reoprts Rajib Dutta
Describing the incident, Das said, “I had kept 4-5 ducks in the bamboo enclosure.Just after midnight, I heard sounds coming from the cage. The ducks were quacking loudly. First I thought that a ‘heppa’ (jungle cat) had entered the cage. I took a lamp to the cage and as I tried to peer inside, I heard a loud growl. Then I became sure that a leopard was inside the enclosure.”
