Rourkela: As many as 25 girl students of Baidpalli Sevashram School in Babunuagaon village in Sundargarh district were taken ill due to suspected food poisoning on Saturday.
Sources said 373 girls are studying in classes VI to X in the residential school. On Saturday, 25 girls complained of headache, stomach pain and vomiting after having breakfast and were shifted to the Bonai sub-divisional hospital for treatment.After primary treatment, 11 students were discharged. The rest 14 were discharged from the hospital on Sunday after their condition was found stable.
The deputy collector and a health team visited the hostel on Sunday and interacted with the students who were taken ill, in the presence of the headmistress.
“I have directed the welfare extension officer concerned to conduct an inquiry into the incident and send the report to me,” said Pabitra Pradhan, district welfare officer, Sundargarh.TNN
