Ponda: Mardol police on Monday booked eight people, including three cops, for allegedly assaulting a fast food stall operator at Marcel. They accused him of posting a video clip on social media that purportedly showed one of the cops being assaulted by some unidentified men.
Viraj Mashelkar, the fast food stall operator, told the police that he was assaulted as his attackers believed that he had posted the viral video clip on social media to defame Sameer Phadte, a police constable attached to Ponda police station.
“The accused also threatened to kill Mashelkar,” a police official said, adding that his medical examination showed he had simple injuries.
Police said that until late Monday evening, no arrest was made in the case.
Mardol PSI Sushant Sangodkar is investigating the case.
