Sarojininagar Mla Unfurls City’s Second Tallest Tricolour | Lucknow News – Times of India

Lucknow: Sarojininagar MLA Rajeshwar Singh unfurled the second tallest (32-meter-long) national flag of Lucknow on Republic Day. He said that the tricolour is the pride of our past and a reflection of the dreams of the future.
He also inaugurated Atal crossing by unveiling an eight feet statue of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as well as announced Rs 20 lakh fund for beautification of the intersection.The MLA also handed over the keys of 56 houses to low-income group families, organized Khichdi feast and a blanket distribution programme. Singh further added that it was Atal ji who first proposed the construction of Ram temple in the Palampur convention in 1989. Recalling the contribution of the former PM, Singh added that he started the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, made provision for free and compulsory education for children in the age group of 6-14, due to which today India’s literacy rate is around 80%.
Vajpayee also implemented revolutionary schemes like Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojana, Golden Quadrilateral Scheme. He said that India has 1.63 lakh kilometres of national highways today because of these futuristic schemes.
