Panaji: In an effort to reach out to the public to create awareness about social welfare schemes, state government has decided to rent hoardings across Goa as part of its outdoor publicity campaign.
Government has decided to appoint an agency for outdoor publicity campaigns for popularising its social welfare schemes and programmes, and to promote important government events.
Government will rent 30 hoardings, and the number may increase from time to time, a senior government official said.
“In order to ensure that these schemes reach the lowest strata of Goan society, the department of information and publicity undertakes to publicise schemes and create awareness in urban and rural areas through hoardings to be taken on hire basis,” he said.
A number of VVIPs visit Goa throughout the year, the official said, adding, “To welcome them and to popularise their visits, government wishes to display hoardings”.
Hoardings will be used to extend greetings during various important festivals celebrated in the state too. Multiple national and international events are held in the state from time to time.
“For promotion of such events, hoardings are desired to be used. Hoardings may also be used for any other campaign as the DIP may see fit,” the official said.
“The number of hoardings to be rented/displayed/hired across the state would be 30 of different square footage at different locations. The coverage across the state should be approximately 45,000 sq feet on a per month basis (30 days basis),” the official said.
Last week, government said it would enlist social media influencers to launch a counteroffensive against those who sully Goa’s image.
The influencers, who will be deployed as force multipliers safeguarding Goa’s reputation, should have been domiciled in the state for 15 years.
Moreover, the influencers will be used to make schemes offered by Goa and Union governments click with the people, it said.
