State collaborates with Isro to boost distance education | Goa News – Times of India

Panaji: State government has decided to provide Education through Satellite (EDUSAT), launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro), to enable distance learning across rural and urban areas.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant emphasised providing education through satellite by allotting band width, education channels, and syllabi through broadcasting methodology. This will benefit children from primary to higher secondary. To achieve the vision, state government has roped in Isro and Isro-deputed first-in-command in education Hanumantha Rayappa and his team.
“This initiative will increase state education exposure and benefit educational activity. It will be as per the NEP policy. The team is in Goa to understand the present situation and its needs and to extend support in all respects,” a senior officer said.
State government, in collaboration with ISRO, will provide EDUSAT in addition to the regular classes. Under this, determined and activity-based learning will be provided across Goa, in both rural and urban areas. Shortly, two-way transmission in higher education with the support of Isro is being planned, apart from teachers training in digital content creation and delivery, a senior officer said.
A senior officer said that state government is contributing with definite strategies, planning, and execution in the field of education from primary to PG-level by way of establishing departments and leaders heading the portfolios through proper systems.
“This initiative will allow students and teachers in different locations to participate in interactive video-conferencing and to communicate in real time. This would also benefit distance learning to acquire the courses and training programmes from anywhere in the country,” a senior officer said.
