Action against teachers, students who don’t follow dress code: Min | Jaipur News – Times of India

Jaipur: A day after Muslim students of a government school for girls in the Walled City protested BJP MLA Balmukundacharya’s comments objecting to them wearing hijab at the Republic Day function in the school, education minister Madan Dilawar on Tuesday said that strict action would be taken against students who do not follow the dress code in government schools.
Dilawar said that action will be taken against teachers also who do not enforce the dress code.
In a video statement, the minister said, “In schools and government institutions, the orders of the government have to be followed. The dress code that has been decided by the government for schools, students will have to follow that… There are existing orders regarding following the government mandated dress code and action will be taken against wherever irregularities are found.”
The minister also said that the government will not allow any religious conversion to take place in schools. “This process of religious conversions that has been started in schools, we will take strictest action against it…We will not allow any kind of religious conversions to take place in schools,” said the minister.
Dilawar did not respond to calls from TOI seeking a comment on the issue.
On Monday, the student protesters had lodged a complaint against the Hawa Mahal MLA and demanded registration of an FIR. Congress MLAs from the city accused Balmukundacharya of stoking communal tensions and violating the Constitution.
On Tuesday, Balmukundacharya while speaking to the media said, “…In schools, offering namaz is being allowed on Fridays, classroom education is being halted during the time of namaz. Why is such a situation being created in schools? Students from other communities are also studying there who have complained to me about this issue…students have even left schools as there is pressure on them that studying Urdu is mandatory…” The MLA further said that he has videos shared by students regarding their complaints.
