Boundaries by June 30 for City Census: LG Approves Proposal | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: LG VK Saxena on Tuesday approved the revenue department’s proposal to extend the date for freezing the boundaries of districts and sub-divisions from Jan 1 to June 30 this year for the purpose of Census.
Raj Niwas officials said that any change required in the administrative boundaries should be made latest by June 30 and the copies of the notification should be shared with the Directorate of Census Operations, Office of the Registrar General and revenue department of Delhi government.
The Office of the Registrar General had in Sept 2019 written to the chief secretary of Delhi to freeze the boundaries of the administrative units on Dec 31, 2019 for the ensuing Census-2021. The Census, however, was delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic.
“As per rule 8 (iv) of the Census Rules, 1990, the state governments and the Union territory administrations shall freeze the administrative boundaries of districts, tehsils, towns, etc. from the date to be intimated by the Census commissioner which shall not be earlier than one year from the Census reference date and till the completion of the exercise,” said an official.tnn
