NEW DELHI: A thick layer of fog engulfed Delhi-NCR on Wednesday morning, reducing the visibility to very low.
In view of low visibility, Delhi airport issued advisory for passengers. “While landing and takeoffs continue at Delhi Airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected. Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information.Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” a post by them read on X.
Several trains to and from the national capital are also running late.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted dense to very dense fog conditions in morning hours over isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on Wednesday, Friday and dense fog in isolated pockets on Saturday.
The city experienced its coldest January in 21 years in terms of day temperatures. The mean maximum temperature during the month at Safdarjung was 17.9 degrees Celsius, the same as in 2015 and the lowest since 2003.
