Prayagraj: The ongoing teacher recruitment process in Allahabad University and constituent colleges has been postponed till further orders, informed AU registrar, Prof N K Shukla, who issued the notification.
At the same time, administration of Allahabad Degree College too has put on hold the proposed interview for recruitment of teachers, though no decision had been taken on the recruitment process for nine posts of assistant professor in Arya Kanya Girls Degree College. Recently, in an important order, the Allahabad High Court said candidates involved in the appointment of assistant professor are entitled to benefit of educational experience. Along with this, the court asked Allahabad University to give benefit of educational experience under Table 3A (7) of the UGC Regulation, while shortlisting candidates for interview in future appointments.
The court had observed, “It is not appropriate to deny applicants the benefit of educational experience on the basis of Section 10 (f) (3) of the UGC Regulation.” The court had also asked AU to give benefit of educational experience under Table 3A (7) of the UGC Regulation while shortlisting candidates for interview in future appointments. The order was issued by division bench of Justice Ashwini Kumar Mishra and Justice Ashutosh Srivastava while hearing the petitions of dozens of candidates, including Geetanjali Tiwari. The interviews were scheduled to be conducted from February 6 to 10 for teacher recruitment in the department of philosophy and Institute of Gandhi and Peace Studies of AU. ADC Principal Atul Kumar Singh said in view of the case of dozens of candidates including Geetajanli Tiwari, the selection process has been postponed till further orders. Recruitment is to be done on 132 posts of assistant professor in respect of 24 subjects in the college. Out of these, the recruitment process of 10 subjects has been completed. Currently, interviews are to be held for 14 subjects. The interview for Computer Science, Economics, English and Urdu subjects was proposed and the same has been postponed.
On the other hand, Principal of Arya Kanya Degree College, Prof Archana Pathak said the recruitment process was to fill nine posts of assistant professor and no decision has been taken yet regarding the interview. Online applications were taken from December 12, 2023 to January 2, 2024 for teacher recruitment to 342 posts in AU. This recruitment includes 147 posts in 42 subjects of Assistant Professor, 130 posts in 39 subjects of Associate Professor and 65 posts in 33 subjects of Professor. 82 backlog posts of SC-ST and OBC have also been included in this recruitment.
