Lucknow: Bowlers helped Uttar Pradesh clinch a clinical victory of 315 runs over Baroda on the third day of Col CK Nayudu Trophy at Motibaug Cricket Ground in Vadodara on Tuesday.
Uttar Pradesh bagged six points and have 20 points from four matches to go on top of Group A. This is UP’s third win this season.
UP had the upper hand when they batted first and put on 269 runs in 73 overs.Later, UP bowlers confined Baroda to just 142 runs in 47 overs. In the second innings, thanks to a century by Aaditya Sharma (114), UP notched up 336 runs in 69 overs. Baroda batters flopped in the second innings posting just 148 runs in 37 overs.
In the second innings, UP opener Swastik Chikara (14) was dismissed (LBW) to Ansh Patel in the fourth over. Harsh Tyagi batted well to score a half century. He smashed 56 runs off 69 deliveries with the help of seven boundaries and two sixers. Number three batter Rituraj Sharma scored 34 off 32 balls and lost his wicket to Shalin Mandhane in the 14th over. Wicketkeeper Aaradhya Yadav collected 21 runs and fell (LBW) to Utsavraj Chudasma in the 22nd over. After the top order was back in the pavilion, Harsh Tyagi managed 58 runs off 64 deliveries in partnership with Rituraj Sharma for the second wicket. Tyagi was caught by Dhruv Patel on a delivery by Mandhane.
Batting at number 5, Aaditya’s century helped UP to put up a good score. He scored 114 runs off 92 deliveries with the help of 13 boundaries and three sixers. Prashant Veer gave good support to Aaditya and scored 38 runs. Siddharth Yadav (8), Vipraj Nigam (9), Kunal Tyagi (2) and Vikrant (0) could not make a mark. When the team was in trouble, skipper Kritagya Singh (not out) smashed 32 runs off 53 balls to help set a good platform for victory.
In Baroda’s second innings, UP’s left arm spinner Prashant Veer took four wickets, Vipraj Nigam and Kunal Tyagi bagged two wickets each and skipper Kritagya Singh took one wicket to help UP register their third win in four matches. A match against Karnataka ended in a draw.
