Woman Accuses Retired Cop Of Assaulting Her Over Property Row | Bengaluru News – Times of India

Bengaluru: A 47-year-old woman has accused a retired head constable of assaulting her over a property dispute.
Radhika (name changed) told police that Shankar (name changed) assaulted her Saturday morning when she went to his house in west Bengaluru to ask for the money he owed her for purchasing her property in Jnanabharathi. She alleged that Shankar threatened her with dire consequences if she approached him again over the matter.
Radhika, who owns a BDA property in Jnanabharathi, was introduced to Shankar by a friend.Shankar, who was then deputed at Bangalore Development Authority, helped her get the sale deed of the property registered. Later on the pretext of buying the property from her, he allegedly made a sale deed in his name by giving her two cheques for Rs 22 lakh in June 2022. But both cheques bounced due to insufficient funds. Shankar kept borrowing time to pay her. She went to his house around 8.30am Saturday and when Shankar refused to give her money, she said she’d complain to the police commissioner. Shankar allegedly abused and assaulted her and threatened to file a false complaint against her.
An officer said Shankar retired from service six years ago. “We have registered the case only in connection with the assault. If they have a property dispute, they have to settle it in court. We are not sure if the complainant knows that Shankar has retired. She mentioned him as a police officer in her complaint,” he added.
