Jaipur: The city police have initiated an investigation following a family’s claim that someone hacked their 15-year-old daughter’s social media account and is now threatening her. An FIR was registered on Thursday, with the father of the minor alleging that his daughter, a Class 9 student from a leading school, has been mentally tortured after her social media account was hacked by the accused, possibly one of her classmates.
The police stated that the accused sent objectionable messages to the girl on the chat and also issued threats, such as editing her photos, leading to her feeling harassed.
The city police stated that acting on the complaint, they filed an FIR against the unnamed accused under IPC Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and other relevant sections under the Information Technology (IT) Act. “This appears to be a case of online harassment and cyberstalking. The complainant suspects that the accused could be someone acquainted with the minor, or even one of her classmates,” the official added. The city police also mentioned that they will seek the assistance of cyber experts to determine the identity of the accused who carried out the act, with the aim of resolving the case as soon as possible. tnn
