Jaipur: Education minister Madan Dilawar on Friday, during a visit to Jodhpur, said that deputations from his department will be stopped to ensure availability of enough teachers in schools. The minister has given instructions to cancel the deputation of the education department’s staff so that academic work can be improved.
“The ratio of teachers in Rajasthan is inadequate Orders have been given to relieve teachers from different departments and 4,000-5,000 deputations have already been cancelled. This will be stopped completely and if any department needs the services of teachers, then they will have to write to the senior officials of the department or to my office to get approval,” said Dilawar.
The minister said that in many places more teachers are working than the number of teachers required, and they will be removed.
“There is a shortage of 25% teachers in the entire state, but in places where teachers are in excess, they will be posted elsewhere. Rural areas have more students but lesser number of teachers, and urban areas have a greater number of teachers but lesser students,” added Dilawar.
Meanwhile, Naveen Jain, secretary for school education issued an order stating that computer instructors in schools should not be given non-academic work and their time will be utilised for educational purposes first. If non-academic work is to be given to computer instructors, then it will be done after their teaching hours. “It has been brought to my attention that in many institutions, computer instructors are being given additional work due to which lab and computer teaching is getting affected. Firstly, computer instructors will teach students and only after that if time permits, their help can be taken for online work of the department,” said Jain.
The order mentions that if in any institution, it is found that computer instructors are being utilised for other tasks, then action will be taken against the head of the institution.
