Latest News: NE to Witness Rain and Snow as Minimum Temperature Remains Low | Guwahati News – Times of India

Guwahati: The minimum temperatures in the northeastern states continued to be low — ranging from minus 2.4 degrees Celsius in Arunachal’s Tawang to 17.5 degrees Celsius in Assam’s Hailakandi on Friday, even as the Met department has forecast light snowfall to light to moderate rainfall in the region.
Besides Tawang, low minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius were recorded in Kohima, Shillong, Imphal, Tinsukia and Namsai.
The maximum temperatures ranged from over 25 degrees Celsius in Silchar and Aizawl to as low as 4.3 degrees Celsius in Tawang.
Weathermen said light snowfall is very likely at isolated places in the higher reaches of Arunachal Pradesh for the next five days till Wednesday.
The five-day forecast also states that moderate rain is very likely to occur at most places in Arunachal Pradesh and light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at a few places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Isolated pockets in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will see shallow to moderate fog.
The department has warned of the possibility of thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by hailstorm at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya on Saturday.
