Bengaluru: A 21-year-old engineering student died after falling from her gearless scooter that brushed against a BMTC bus near Gayatrinagar in Malleswaram Friday morning.
The deceased, H Kusumita, a resident of Malleshwaram 13th Cross and student of a private engineering college on Mysuru Road, was heading to her college when the accident took place at 8.30am, traffic police said.
CCTV footage from cameras installed inside the BMTC bus showed the accident took place when Kusumita was riding past the bus from the left side. An autorickshaw was moving ahead of Kusumita and on seeing the three-wheeler, she applied brakes but lost balance. Her scooter brushed against the bus plying between Majestic and Kamalanagar and she fell down. Though the girl didn’t come under the wheels of the bus, she hit the footpath and her helmet came off, causing severe head injuries, police said. “The bus driver identified as Prakash shifted Kusumita to KC General hospital and doctors declared her brought dead,” a police officer said.
