Kidnapping Realtor in Guise of Policemen – Three Booked | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Ludhiana: Sahnewal police booked three men for kidnapping a Sangrur-based farmer and realtor. They kidnapped the victim in the guise of policemen. The victim had a monetary dispute with one of the accused, who abducted him with his accomplices, thrashed him and forced him to sign some blank papers. The victim claimed that the accused were accompanied by an actual policeman who took him to a police station and thrashed him.
The incident took place on January 9 but police took 24 days to lodge an FIR.The accused have been identified as Makhan Singh, Hardeep Singh of Sahnewal and Shingara Singh. The victim, Jagbir Singh of Dohla village in Sangrur said that police have not booked the actual policeman in the FIR.
Jagbir Singh, a farmer and realtor said that Hardeep Singh had borrowed Rs 8 lakh from him and was reluctant to return the money. When he pressurised him, the accused gave him a cheque, which was dishonoured by the bank, following which he asked the accused to return the money.
The complainant said that he came to Sahnewal on Jan 9 and the accused also came wearing a police uniform. Impersonating as policemen, they kidnapped and assaulted him, besides forcing him to sign some blank papers and to return the cheque.
The complainant alleged that Hardeep, Makhan and Shingara were accompanied by one ASI Jaspal Singh. They took him to a police station and allegedly beat him up. After some time, they dropped him on a road and fled.
Inspector Inderjit Singh, SHO at Sahnewal police station said that no policeman by the name of ASI Jaspal Singh worked at Sahnewal police station. Police booked three of the accused under sections 419 (cheating by personation), 177 (Wearing garb or carrying token used by public servant with fraudulent intent), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC. Police are trying to ascertain if some policeman was involved in the case.
