No Relief For Ex-mla As Court Refuses To Stay Probe Into Son’s Car Crash Case | Hyderabad News – Times of India

HYDERABAD: Telangana high court has refused to stay police investigation into the hit-and-run case involving BRS former MLA Mohammed Shakeel Aamir’s son, Raheel Aamir, who is believed to have crashed his BMW into the road divider near Praja Bhavan.
While hearing a criminal petition filed by the former MLA and five other accused seeking quashing of the FIR, Justice K Lakshman said that he would not stop the investigators from pursuing the case.
The case will come up for hearing again on Feb 9. Panjagutta police, who registered an FIR, said Raheel, 19, was driving the car on Dec 24. He escaped from police station and later fled to Dubai. With the help of police, Shakeel made his driver Abdul Asif own up responsibility for the accident to save his son.
Accordingly, Asif surrendered before cops. Police, during the investigation, stumbled upon facts and made the former MLA, his son and their associates accused in the case. Shakeel, Asif and four others, in their plea, alleged that police were adding more persons as accused without any evidence. Their counsel B Vivekananda urged the court to direct police not to take any coercive steps against accused.
Arguing the case on behalf of the state govt, public prosecutor Palle Nageswara Rao opposed any relief to the accused. “They took the help of some police officials to escape. Now, they are filing these pleas sitting in Dubai,” Rao said, raising doubts about the vakalat. “It has to be attested by the Indian embassy officials in Dubai,” he contended, pointing out the absence of any such attestation. The judge turned down the request to pass a direction not to take any coercive measures.
Vivekananda said people known to Shakeel had brought the authorisation letter from him and that he filed the plea on behalf of the accused.
Two police officials were already named as accused in the case. It was with the help of these cops, the accused fled from the country, said police, who are now trying to reach out to the accused in Dubai.
