The snatched Hyundai i20 car and an illegal pistol has been seized from the accused, who was arrested by Patiala police after an encounter in which he sustained a bullet injury in his right leg.
The accused is Sukhdeep Singh Ugha of Bangawali village in Sangrur’s Dhuri.His aide Abhishek had already been arrested by the Patiala police.
Patiala senior superintendent of police (SSP) Varun Sharma said that they were on a hunt to nab Sukhdeep in a murder case.

Sukhdeep and his accomplices had executed two major crimes within a span of 24 hours. “They had first stabbed a Patiala resident, Sameer Kataria, to death and taken away his car on the intervening night of January 27 and 28. However, they crashed the car and abandoned it before fleeing,” the SSP added.
Patiala deputy superintendent of police (investigation) Pawanjit said, “After the car snatching failed in Patiala, Sukhdeep and Abhishek left for Ludhiana in a train in the morning. There, they targeted a woman, who was sitting alone in her car near Gill Bridge on Sidhwan canal. They drove the woman for about 60km in her car and robbed her of cash and gold. Then they threw her out and fled from there. We have confiscated the snatched car,” he added.
The cop said that the Patiala police have also arrested their accomplices Dinesh Kumar Dinu, Sahil Kumar and Yogesh Moreya.
Among the seizures are a .32 bore pistol and four rounds, the police said.
