Ludhiana: A Class IX student of Govt High School Kot Mangal Singh, Harjot Kaur, has bagged the first position at the state-level science exhibition, which was held for govt school students, in collaboration with the state education department.
A total of 230 teams — 10 teams each from 23 districts — participated under two categories: Class VI to VIII and Class IX to X.Harjot bagged the prize under the agriculture sub theme. She will now represent the state at the national level in the 51st Rashtriya Bal Vigyan Pradarshani to be organised by the NCERT in the coming months.
She portrayed six techniques in her ‘smart farming’ project, including aquaponics, aeroponics, soil moisture sensor, millet production as super food, holography, and manure and fertilizer dispenser.
Talking to TOI, Harjot said: “After realising that buying vegetables during Covid times was such a hassle, I decided to choose this theme, as these smart farming techniques can help grow vegetables even on balconies and roofs.”
Two more students of the district have also bagged various positions. Under category I, Simranjot Kaur from GSSS Gurm bagged the third position under the agriculture sub-theme, while under category II, Divya from GSSS Gobind Nagar bagged second position in health sub-theme.
