Mukesh Rishi reveals he expected to get offers after Aamir Khan starrer ‘Sarfarosh’; says he only got calls from South industry | – Times of India

Mukesh Rishi, known for his portrayal of Salim in the Aamir Khan-led blockbuster ‘Sarfarosh‘, recently revealed that his anticipation for increased opportunities in Hindi cinema post the film’s success. However, his career trajectory didn’t align with his expectations. Mukesh revealed that instead of receiving offers from Bollywood, he found himself inundated with calls from the southern film industry.This shift led him to establish a niche for himself as an actor adept at portraying negative characters.

During the conversation, Mukesh revealed that it was during the filming of’ ‘Sarfarosh’ that Aamir Khan personally chose him for a role in ‘Lagaan‘ and offered him the character of Deva, later played by Pradeep Singh Rawat. Mukesh participated in a few script readings before learning that Aamir intended to shoot the film continuously and required his actors to be available on location for several months. Unfortunately, Mukesh’s prior commitments to ongoing film projects in the southern industry made it impossible for him to commit to ‘Lagaan.’During the preparation for ‘Lagaan’ at Aamir Khan’s residence, Mukesh Rishi became apprehensive when discussions turned towards committing to months-long shoots. Sensing the conflict with his ongoing southern film projects, Mukesh approached Aamir and expressed his concerns. Aamir, understanding the situation, reassured Mukesh and supported his decision. Despite missing out on ‘Lagaan,’ Mukesh harbors no regrets and was pleased with Pradeep Rawat’s portrayal of the character.
On the work front, Mukesh was recently seen in the OTT platform web series Indian Police Force.
