The initiative, under which the renovation of roads equipped with modern amenities is to be carried out, falls under the Chief Minister Grid Scheme (CMGS), which has been allocated a substantial budget of Rs 200 crore.
The project, part of the Rs 800 crore allocation in the state Budget, will see the development of seven major roads identified by municipal commissioner, Inderjit Singh.
The roads have been identified after a traffic congestion survey, said officials.
These roads have been strategically chosen to cater to high traffic areas and will undergo a comprehensive transformation that includes the incorporation of utility ducts, footpaths, green zones, solar-powered street lights, bus stops, EV charging stations, beautification, and improved pedestrian facilities.
The municipal commissioner highlighted that the road’s length also includes 50 meters wide pavement on each side of every crossing. As soon as the budget is released, the civic body will initiate the transformation of these roads, addressing longstanding issues related to traffic congestion and inadequate infrastructure.
“This ambitious project is expected to significantly contribute to the overall development and modernization of Lucknow’s urban landscape,” he added.
