Magh Mela: Seers Who Renounced Rewarding Careers For Inner Peace | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: Many of the seers, saints , mahamandleshwar and mahants narrating Bhagwat Katha, Ram Katha, Bhagwad Gita other religious scriptures at the ongoing Magh Mela are armed with degrees and diplomas in English, Economics, and professional courses like fashion design and have even had a stint in mult-national corporations.
Meet Yogacharya Radhika Vaishanv, camping at Magh Mela sector no 2, who has MSc (Maths) and B Ed degrees, besides diploma in fashion designing and Yoga.She is national president of the Akhil Bharatiya Dandi Sanyasi Parishad. Pithadhishwar Swami Brahmashram Maharaj is BA with Sanskrit , MA in English and Economics and has a diploma from polytechnic and had a government job before taking deeksha (initiation into spiritual fold).
Radhika Vaishnav’s father, late Kapilmauni Naga, was Maha Mandaleshwar (high priest) of Shri Panchayati Niranjani Akhada, one of the 13 ancient Hindu monastic orders in the country. When he passed away because of a kidney ailment at the age of 68 in April 2021, Radhika Vaishnav picked up from where her father left and has since become an ace kathavachak, conducting religious discourses, yoga sessions in the camp like her father did.
“I had been coming to the Magh Mela along with my father since childhood, so it was not new for me and I was acquainted with the routine of the religious fair, said Vaishnav, who hails from Chitrakoot, adding, “I completed my graduation, post graduation and received my diploma in fashion designing in 2017-18. After losing my father, I started leading discourses, yoga sessions, community meals and prayers.”. She still designs clothes for the deity and herself. Swami Ramkrishna Das, who has a B Tech degree, worked as engineer in Reserve Bank of India and held key postings at Nasik, Dewas and Noida. Spiritual Guru, Dr Amitabh Gour, after securing degrees like MBA and PhD, worked in several MNCs but chose spiritualism to connect with his soul. “After working in different companies and sectors, I realised I could attain peace of mind only through spirituality,” said Gour, adding, “Many saints and seers associated with different akharas, religious institutes and in the field of spirituality are well educated and highly qualified, but instead of pursuing a career and take home a fat pay-cheque, renounced the world.”
Gour shared that after completing MBA and working with many renowned groups, one day, about 20 years back, he realised that he should aim in life for inner peace. He admitted that though the journey was tough he would have led his life no other way.
Mahamandleshwar Swami Krishna Das Maharaj Kohlu Nath Khalsa had adopted spiritualism in 1997, even before taking deeksha from his guru.
