Gurgaon: The city received much-needed respite on Tuesday from the biting cold it has been witnessing for the last one month.
Shallow fog covered the city in the early morning. But by around 10.30am, the sun was shining brightly. IMD has predicted partly cloudy skies on Wednesday.
The minimum temperature dropped by 3.4 degrees Celsius — from Monday’s 11.6 degrees C to 8.2 degrees on Tuesday.The maximum temperature was 19 degrees Celsius — 3.6 degrees below normal for this time of the year.
Strong surface winds with speeds of 25kmph-35kmph are likely on Wednesday and Thursday.
The minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to hover around 8 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively for the next five days, an official said.
“Dense fog was witnessed in isolated places in Haryana. The weather will be dry for the next five days,” an IMD official said.
According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), “The wind will be blowing from northeast directions to Delhi-NCR on Feb 9. There is a possibility of light rain or drizzle. For the next two days, there will be mist in the morning and strong surface winds at 25-35 kmph.”
The city’s air quality index (AQI) improved within the ‘moderate’ category on Tuesday. The average AQI was recorded at 112 as compared to 153 the day before.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature on Tuesday in Delhi was recorded at 21 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. The minimum temperature dipped to 7 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. However, it was 5.4 degrees lower than Monday’s minimum temperature.
