Pune: The Union minister for power and new & renewable Energy, R K Singh, recently stated that the union government has achieved significant milestones in electrifying villages and enhancing the sub-transmission and distribution network through the Deen Dayal Gram Jyoti Yojana.
A total of 18,374 villages have been electrified under the scheme, with 2,763 of them powered by renewable resources.Additionally, the government introduced the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) at the national level to ensure universal electrification of households that were previously without access to electricity.
Under SAUBHAGYA, approximately 2.86 crore households have been electrified, with all states certifying the completion of electrification for all unelectrified households.
Tariffs are determined by the respective State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), and any Late Payment Surcharge (LPS) imposed on consumers is regulated by SERC in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
