Bombay High Court ruling on quashing LOC against Rhea Chakraborty | – Times of India

Rhea Chakraborty has found herself fighting legal battles for the Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had issued a standing Look-out Circular (LOC) against the actress, restricting her from traveling overseas without prior court clearance. Despite having professional commitments abroad, Chakraborty was hindered by the LOC.Although, in December 2023, the High Court had suspended the LOC for a week since she had some professional commitment in Dubai.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the court has deferred its ruling on quashing the LOC after a petition was filed by the actress along with brother Showik and their father. Advocate Ayaz Khan argued with the court that an LOC must be issued if the accused are not regular with their court appearances and evading arrest. However, CBI representative Advocate Shreeram Shirsat cited a previous court refusal regarding Rhea’s case transfer request to Mumbai.
Shirsat further said that Rhea’s co-operation doesn’t assure an imminent filing of the chargesheet and their attendance doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be any investigation. He also stressed on the purpose of the LOC. However, the bench criticized the delay, remarking that three and a half years should have sufficed for the charge sheet’s completion.
At the moment, the court has reserved its decision. Earlier, Rhea had applied for the suspension of LOC before the new year’s eve as she said she had professional commitments. But the CBI advocate had argued that Rhea is no longer the ambassador of the said brand and has been replaced by Kiara Advani. Yet, Rhea’s advocate argued and proved her association with the brand, thus the court had granted her the permission to travel that time.
